This Fall I am teaching a course titled, Sport Agency Management for the third consecutive year at the University of Indiana Bloomington.  The purpose of the class is to provide students with a greater understanding of the current issues and laws related to the sport agent profession, and focuses primarily on the legal and practical way to act in the capacity of a sport agent and/or operate a sport agency.

For the past three years, I have made one book required reading for those taking the course – Representing the Professional Athlete by Peter A. Carfagna.  In my opinion, it is the most powerful, authoritative book available for those interested in learning about the ins-and-outs of the sports agent profession.  Thus, I was overcome with excitement when Professor Carfagna informed me that a new, second edition of the book was recently published and is available for Spring 2014 courses.

The description provided by West Academic Publishing states that the Second Edition includes new Agent/Athlete Representation Agreements and new Athlete Licensing and Product Endorsement Agreements.

Professors who would like to review a print copy of the Second Edition may request a complimentary copy.  It does not appear that copies are available for purchase at this time.

I actually had Prof. Carfagna as a professor for both Advanced Sports Law and Advanced Contract drafting, the prior using the last edition of this book. From the student side of things, this book was very straightforward and practical. Enjoyed the book, and the class. Will probably pick this book up to see what has changed.
