Sports Agents like their News & Notes, and they like them at the beginning of the day. Every day, right when I walked through the door and into my chair as an intern at Career Sports & Entertainment, I sat down and worked on reading all of local papers from the cities that the company had clients working in. As you can imagine, this task took up a big chunk of every morning.
FanNation.com aims to make this task slightly easier for those that have to search through the headlines to see if their clients did something special or committed a crime while most of the world was sleeping. The website has many great tools and has a wonderful layout, but I would like to focus on one particular widget.
On the right side of the site is an area to enter individual players for tracking (you must first login as a user to actually add a player). After adding players, the home page will tell you the last time an article mentioned each one of your clients. Clicking on the player’s name will lead you directly to his/her unique page with a listing of the most recent/relevant articles. This service should save a ridiculous amount of time for a person looking to create a daily News & Notes sheet for an agency or for personal preferences.
An added bonus is that FanNation includes photos, a little scouting report for each player, and most importantly, stats for recently completed games.
As an intern, I also had to complete and edit a stats sheet for each client on a daily basis. I did this task separately from creating the daily News & Notes column. With FanNation, you can work on both tasks at the same time.
