According to Liz Mullen, Denver Broncos wide receiver, Emmanuel Sanders, has switched agents. Previously represented by Steve Weinberg, Sanders has now signed with 5 Star Athletes’ Todd France.
Following Sanders’ decision to join the Broncos last off-season, his former agent took a great deal of criticism over his negotiating tactics. While some criticized how Weinberg handled Sanders’ free agency, Weinberg defended himself saying that the Chiefs “misinterpreted” the events that led to Sanders eventually signing with the Broncos. Unfortunately for Weinberg, this was not the first time his credibility as an agent was called into question. In fact, in 2003 following a dispute with his former business partner, Howard Silber, Weinberg was stripped of his NFLPA certification and ordered to pay $2.1 million in damages by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
On his way to his first Pro-Bowl selection in 2014, Sanders recorded 101 receptions on 141 targets for 1,404 yards and 9 touchdowns – all career highs. Sanders is entering his 6th season in the league and second with Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Sanders was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 Draft by the Steelers with the 82nd overall pick.
According to Liz Mullen, Sanders is the second athlete in as many days to switch their representation to 5 Star Athletes’ Todd France. He joins the Bengals’ tight end Jermaine Gresham who recently cut ties with former agent Ben Dogra.
