Sorry for the late wrap-up this week. Got a little overwhelmed with things going on during the day and then had a four hour review for the MPRE (ethics portion of the bar exam, which I will be taking in November) followed by a David Banner concert (it’s the hip-hop in me). Anyway, I will probably be making a trip down to Lakeland tomorrow to meet with a baseball prospect for the 2009 MLB Draft. All of our basketball guys who had NBDL tryouts thus far seem to have outperformed the competition. Can’t wait to announce all of our guys who end up making NBDL/PBL teams this year. Anyway, here are some stories I missed this past week:
Bowling
- Be sure to check out Chris Paul’s Celebrity Invitational this Saturday at 1 p.m. EST on ESPN. Look for a guy wearing a blue button-down in the background [Missy’s Memo].
Basketball
- Signing with a European team who’s coach used to be with the Cavaliers [Former Ark. player signed by Ukrainian team].
- Finally suspended for old incident. Here’s to hoping that he will remain crime-free in the future [Sebastian Telfair suspended for gun incident].
Baseball
- The Royals ($11,148,000), Red Sox ($10,515,000), Rays ($9,921,000) and Pirates ($9,780,000) all exceeded the previous record for bonus payments by a single team in the 2008 MLB Draft [Ask BA].
- While a majority of the city of Boston may not like Manny, his former teammates seem to be showing him some love [Report: Red Sox players vote to pay Manny two-thirds’ playoff share].
- And Manny hopes that many other teams show him love in a bidding war for the new free-agent [New free-agent Manny ready for all (rich) suitors].
One reply on “Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up”
what do you think the patrick beverly player did to be asked to leave? It’s not everyday that a teams leading scorer is dismissed without a clear reason. I know your Ukraine very well, I wish him the best of luck out there.
