Kendrys Morales Chooses New Representation

Kansas City Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales has signed with Wasserman Media Group.  The signing was reported by Robert Murray of BaseballEssential.com and later confirmed by Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.  Morales was previously represented by Scott Boras.

Boras was Morales’ agent when he was a top free agent in 2014.  That year, Boras was tasked to come to Morales’ defense when the player was criticized by anonymous team executives and officials based on ESPN articles that attacked his value.

In June 2014, Morales signed a 1-year, $12 million contract with the Minnesota Twins.  He was traded to the Seattle Mariners for Stephen Pryor the following month.  Then, in December, he signed a 2-year, $17 million deal with the Royals.  There is an $11 million mutual option for 2017 with a $1.5 million buyout.

Morales joins a red hot Wasserman roster, which also recently picked up Chicago White Sox pitcher Jeff Samardzija as a client.  Samardzija had been represented by Mark Rodgers, who is also the agent of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
