According to Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal, Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Matt Wisler has switched representation agencies. He was formerly represented by Sosnick Cobbe Karon Sports, but has joined the ranks at Excel Sports Management.
At Excel, he will be represented by a team of agents in the baseball division, which is led by Casey Close. Notable baseball clients include Yankees P Masahiro Tanaka, Dodgers P Clayton Kershaw, P Zack Greinke, World Series Champion OF Alex Gordon, and former Yankees SS Derek Jeter among others.
Wisler was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Bryan High School in Bryan, OH. He was traded to the Braves this past April along with Carlos Quentin, Cameron Maybin, Jordan Paroubeck in exchange for Craig Kimbrel and Melvin Upton, Jr. He made his MLB debut on June 19 of this past season against the New York Mets – a game in which he earned a win.
