Top sports agents, Joel Segal of Lagardère Sports and Todd France of CAA Sports continued their streaks of representing multiple first-round picks in the NFL Draft.
Segal, the president of Lagardère Sports, represented five first-rounders in last month’s draft, topping any individual agent. These players are: DE DeForest Buckner (No. 7 overall), CB Eli Apple (No. 10 overall), CB Vernon Hargreaves III (No. 11), S Karl Joseph (No. 14), and WR Josh Doctson (No. 22). This is his 11th year in a row in which he has represented multiple first round picks.
“Every year you try and recruit great players and great guys,” Segal said. “This year, in particular, everything fell into place. We had great players, great guys; we caught some breaks, and everything went well in Round 1.”
France represented or co-represented five first rounders. These players are: DE Joey Bosa (No. 3 overall), LB Leonard Floyd (No. 9), C Ryan Kelly (No. 18), LB Darron Lee (No. 20) and WR Will Fuller (No. 21). This is the ninth consecutive year he has represented multiple first-rounders.
In total, CAA Sports had seven first-rounders, and Lagardère Sports had five. These numbers are first and second, respectively, for most first-round picks of any agency. Additionally, CAA Sports had eight second-rounders, which totals 15 of the top 40 players chosen.
