Per a press release from the company, earlier this week Octagon, a global sports and entertainment leader, welcomed broadcast industry veteran Tim Scanlan as Vice President, Sports Broadcast to lead the next phase of growth for Octagon’s substantial sports broadcast talent representation group. Prior to joining Octagon, Scanlan served as ESPN’s vice president for talent planning and development and was responsible for recruitment and contract negotiations for the commentators on ESPN pro sports content including NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS and international soccer.

“Tim’s vast talent and production experience, along with his extensive industry relationships, will provide immediate benefits to our clients and to Octagon’s media and broadcast businesses overall,” said Octagon Founder and President Phil de Picciotto. “On top of that, he is extremely well respected and liked, thinks in global terms and acts collaboratively, all of which we value highly at Octagon.”

Octagon’s talented list of on-air sports television personalities includes host of ESPN’s Outside the Lines Bob Ley, ESPN college football and tennis lead Chris Fowler, CBS NFL studio analyst Bill Cowher, NBC soccer and Olympics host Rebecca Lowe, NFL Network analyst Brian Billick, ESPN NFL studio analyst Herm Edwards, NFL Network and HBO senior correspondent Andrea Kremer and ESPN SportsCenter host Neil Everett.

“I am honored and excited to join the talented and passionate team at Octagon. They represent and serve the most impressive and distinguished group of talent, properties, corporate clients, and sports and entertainment media assets around the world,” said Scanlan. “I look forward to the opportunity to bring the full scope of my experience and relationships to this award-winning company.”

At times during his long tenure at ESPN, Scanlan was also responsible for all production elements associated with ESPN’s coverage of MLB, all NCAA sports, soccer, tennis, boxing, lacrosse, ice hockey and the Little League World Series.

Scanlan will be based in Octagon’s New York City office.
