After leading the PAC-12 in tackles during his senior season, UCLA linebacker Jayon Brown has signed with Leigh Steinberg. Brown will train at Athletic Republic in Santa Ana to prepare for the combine and draft. He has also accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 21. Steinberg is coming off of a remarkable year in which he represented a first-round pick in quarterback Paxton Lynch in last year’s draft.
Brown is 5’11, 220 pounds, has ranked at or near the top of the PAC-12 tackles list all season long. He finished the year with 119 tackles, tied for the 16th-most in school single season history, and ended the regular season first in the league with a 9.9 tackles per game average. Brown became the first UCLA Bruin to hit the century mark in tackles since linebacker Eric Kendricks totaled 149 stops in the 2014 season. He also was listed among the top 16 in the Pac-12 in interceptions (T-8th with 3) and passes defended (T-16th). He also earned 2016 All-PAC-12 Conference First Team honors.
