Powerhouse agency Wasserman announced today that Rafa Nieves has been hired Vice President of Baseball. Nieves came to the United States from Venezuela at the age of 16 to become a professional baseball player after being signed by the Detroit Tigers. He played within the Tigers and New York Yankees organization before transitioning to the representation side of the business.
Nieves made a name for himself at Beverly Hill Sports Council where he helped build a successful latin division starting in 2011. Nieves represents a number of well-known MLB athletes including Pablo Sandoval, Salvador Perez and Rougned Odor.
“I’m excited to join Wasserman and work alongside other talented agents who I have long looked up to and who I think are the best in the business,” Nieves said. “Wasserman has long been a leader in salary arbitration, free agency negotiations, and has consistently represented some of the best young talent internationally and in the MLB Draft. The off-field resources we are able to provide our clients is also unmatched in baseball.”
