Per an article from Sports Business Journal, Sean Barror has joined Excel Sports Management as their new Head of Property Sales. Barror served as WME-IMG’s Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships, Naming Rights and Sponsorships for the past two years. In his time at the 13th most valuable sports agency he was an integral part of selling NBA advertising patches for the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Atlanta Hawks.
Excel Sports Management is currently ranked by Forbes as the second most powerful sports agency with $3.38 billion in contracts under management (a $300 million increase over the last year). With NBA jersey patches continuing to grow, Barror will be a key piece for Excel in landing the Charlotte Hornets a jersey patch sponsorship. The Charlotte Hornets are looking to cash in on a jersey patch sponsorship around $8 million a year.
Currently there are 14 NBA teams who have jersey patch sponsorship deals. The 2017-2018 NBA season is the beginning of a three year trial period of jersey patch sponsorships. Barror was apart of 3 of the 14 sponsorship deals. Excel will look into continuing to grow this number with Sean Barror leading the way.
