Buffalo Bills defensive back E. J. Gaines has parted ways with Synergy Sports International, according to Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal. Gaines will now be represented by Andy Ross of Select Sports Group (SSG). Other notable clients of SSG include Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals, Danny Amendola of the New England Patriots, and Jordy Nelson of the Green Bay Packers.
A sixth-round draft pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft, Gaines was selected to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team after totaling 70 tackles and 2 interceptions in 15 games played. The Missouri-native played his entire collegiate career for the Mizzou Tigers, where he earned 1st-team All SEC honors his senior year.
Gaines was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Buffalo Bills along with a 2018 second-round pick in exchange for WR Sammy Watkins and a 2018 sixth-round pick. At the halfway mark of the 2017 season, he has 24 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception in 5 games played.
Considering he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2017 season, he should expect a sizeable pay increase next season. Making him a solid addition to the SSG team.
