According to a company press release, Roc Nation Sports has signed Belgian soccer sensation Romelu Lukaku. The Manchester United and Belgian National Team striker becomes the second member of RNS’ soccer division, joining the likes of Bayern Munich and German National Team center back Jérôme Boateng.
Lukaku has already been a professional soccer player for eight years, although he is only 24 years old. Back in November 2017 he became Belgium’s all-time leading scorer with 31 international goals in just seven years. He is also the fifth youngest player to reach 100 Premier League goals, doing so in just 216 games.
Roc Nation Sports has made waves in the US representation industry, signing top athletes in baseball, basketball and football. The signing of Lukaku and Boateng signify continued growth in the international realm. Headquartered in New York City, the home of its US operations, the agency has also built out an international staff in both London and Munich.
“Roc Nation Sports offers me something nobody else can offer – the unique opportunity to build myself into a global brand while also supporting my growth as an athlete,” said Lukaku. “One of the first things I noticed about the agency was the depth of opportunities they cerate for their clients, be it marketing, media, philanthropy or brand building. I’m very excited to join their impressive roster of athletes and artists, and I look forward to growing alongside the company as it continues to expand internationally.”
