On Dynasty’s website, I list various companies that we are aligned with in areas like equipment, financial assistance, and luxuries. One of the entities listed under luxuries is Halcyon Jets, a world-class private jet charter business. I have strong relations with many of the employees at Halcyon and believe that they offer a top quality product. I was a little surprised to recently read about former baseball star and CEO of The Players Club (a non-subscription financial-based magazine sent to athletes and agents that I enjoy receiving), Lenny Dykstra, failing to pay for a bill worth about $7,000 owed to Halcyon. Now he is getting sued by the private jet charter company.
This is interesting news to report, especially right after the Philadelphia Daily News wrote a glowing piece on the former baseball player turned entrepreneur. If you can get around the multiple bros that Dykstra spits out in his many quoted lines, you will notice that besides being the head honcho at The Players Club, Dykstra makes money flipping real-estate deals, writes for thestreet.com, made a boatload of dollars selling a few car washes in California, and is actually getting into the private jet chartering business himself!
Flying commercial is the very definition of hell for Dykstra, who says he has not done it in years. One of the chief components of The Players Club is providing access to private jets, which will be supplied by the company Dykstra oversees, “Legends Air.” He has his own personal jet that has been in the shop since summer: The engines are being worked on and the interior is being redone.
So while Legends Air’s development in in progress, Dykstra has to have issues with a future rival private jet company? If he truly did default on his payments, is that good business etiquette? I am a big fan of entrepreneurial spirit and hope that Dykstra will continue to be successful in his many ventures. I also would like to know that he is not trying to cheat others in the process.

Mr. Heitner,
My name is Bradley Greenberg and I am in my third year at University of Southern California. I am extremely interested in getting into athlete management/representation. I am an avid reader of both your website as well as the Sports Business Journal. I know the circulation of “The Players Club” is limited to people in the industry but was wondering if you knew if there is a way to receive a copy. I would also love your opinion on what other magazines, journals, and websites to read to further my knowledge of the sports business world as well as athlete representation/management. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
I am not sure how to go about receiving a copy of The Players Club. I started receiving it two issues ago, but never submitted my information to the distributor. SBJ is a great resource for information. Some other good websites are Sports Law Blog, Darren Rovell’s blog at CNBC…actually, check the Links tab at the top of the page.
