My new website The Sports Biz is off to a great start (too many articles to list below). And it’s just a start. I see it growing beyond some of the competing “sports biz” sites and, importantly, focusing on quality over quantity. Reminder to follow the official Twitter account here. Not off to such a great start? The Miami Dolphins. And I can’t stand watching how well Jarvis Landry is performing as a member of the Cleveland Browns while Devante Parker continues to be sidelined with injuries. Thankfully, fantasy football drafts are coming up, which gives me an outlet for my fandom even if the Dolphins have a less than optimal season ahead of them.
As always here is the weekly wrap-up:
Basketball
- The case will move to arbitration, which is a quicker process but also expect few-to-no leaks [Judge dismisses ex-Louisville coach Rick Pitino’s lawsuit against Adidas].
- “Why wait until I’m 30 and then start getting into the business because I’m at an age where people will trust me and believe in me more?” [17-year-old NBA agent Ariel Levy is ready to take over the game].
- Matt Babcock was there to scope out some of the young talent [Nike Basketball Academy Through the Eyes of a Former NBA Agent].
- 1 agent: “The NCAA is like herding cats. They’re not strong enough as an organization to make real changes. The NBA would like them to be. But they’re not.” [NBA agents blast NCAA rule changes: ‘This is BS… They didn’t do anything’].
Football
- 2 years ago Su’a Cravens was a promising rookie and then came the falling out [The Ugliest Divorce].
- David Mulugheta went to the stats sheet [Jalen Ramsey’s Agent Took Twitter Beef With Golden Tate to Whole New Level].
- Gronk says he still lives on endorsement money and hasn’t touched his income from football [Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski now a financial advisor for young players].
