The Oakland Athletics have signed 1st-round pick Tyler Soderstrom for $3.3 Million (slot 26 value = $2,653,400) according to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline. Soderstrom received the largest bonus for a prep C in bonus-pool era. He is the son of former Major League Pitcher Steve Soderstrom who was the No.6 overall pick in the 1993 MLB Draft.
It was later reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN that Soderstrom will be joining the A’s at training camp this season at just 18 years old, making him the youngest member on the 60-man roster.
The California native will be represented by Paragon Sports International, a boutique firm based out of Los Angeles. Paragon most notably represents former NL MVP and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich. Paragon extended Yelich to a 9-year $215 Million-dollar contract back in March.
