Paul Guarino and PG Sports continue to grow with the agency’s newest client signing: Minnesota Lynx guard Crystal Dangerfield. PG Sports will represent Dangerfield in all off-court marketing, sponsorships, and public relations endeavors. When speaking with Guarino, he said, “I’m excited to work with Crystal because I’ve had my eye on her since her UCONN days (being a CT native). Before she won the WNBA Rookie of the Year, and I knew she would become a star off the court as she is on the court”.
Dangerfield was drafted the 16th overall pick in the 2nd round of the 2020 WNBA Draft to the Minnesota Lynx after her final season was cut short at UCONN due to Covid-19. Along with college basketball post-season ultimately getting cut short, the WNBA season was held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida with a “bubble” format.
In the “wubble,” the WNBA’s counterpart to the NBA’s “bubble,” Dangerfield was able to find her groove as the season progressed. She averaged 16.2 points per game, shot 47.1% from the field, ranked first in free throw percentage and second in scoring, minutes, and assists. She became the first player not selected in the first round of the WNBA to win Rookie of the Year. Along with that accolade, Dangerfield was named 2020 WNBA All-Rookie Team, AP Rookie of the Year and ESPN Rookie of the Year.
Just as she is on the court, she wants that same presences off the basketball court. “I want my off-court brand to speak for me before I’ve even stepped into rooms”, said Dangerfield. Continue to watch Dangerfield blossom in her professional basketball career as well as the journey of PG Sports as it continues to grow as a sports marketing and management company.
