CAA Sports Basketball Division has officially announced the signing of freshman Cameron Thomas from Louisiana State University who will be joining their 2021 NBA Draft Class.
The 6’4″, 210-pound guard is from Chesapeake, Virginia and attended Oak Hill Academy where he competed under Coach Steve Smith and became Oak Hill Academy’s all-time leading scorer that season.
Prior to attending college, Thomas was ranked a five-star recruit coming out of high school and was ranked No. 5 in his position and No. 23 overall in the ESPN Top 100. As a freshman Thomas began playing basketball for Oscar F. Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and later transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA where he averaged 26.2 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 3.4 APG.
As a freshman Thomas competed for the LSU Tigers under Coach Will Wade and started all 29 games. Throughout the 2020-21 season Thomas averaged 23 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the field leading the Tigers to a 19-10 record in the SEC. Thomas ranked number one on the team in points per game, while recording 28 double digits scoring games.
