I was a little disappointed with the quality of the commercials in this year’s Super Bowl. I may have some of a bias because I was mad about my proposition bet with my friends that I lost (I said that the first commercial after the kickoff would not be a “drink” commercial…who would’ve guessed it would be a Bud Light commercial…sarcasm).
Anyway, I could not help but notice that Matt Leinart was in two separate commercials during Super Bowl Xtra Large (XL). Correct me if I am wrong. I know for sure that he was in a Desperate Housewives commercial with my man Shaquille O’Neil.
Questions:
- Where were other star collegiate athletes that will be in this year’s upcoming draft? (Such as the amazing Vincent Young, who should be accumulating huge media bucks)
- Why was Matt Leinart solicited for 2 different commercials during the Super Bowl as a player who has not even taken one snap in the NFL?
- What was Leigh Steinberg’s role?
This is a good time to announce that Leigh Steinberg has officially become Leinart’s agent, if you did not already know. Leinart was even present at Steinberg’s big Super Bowl party on Saturday.
Vincent Young’s agent, Major Adams, should take this Super Bowl as a lesson that he needs to start parading his client as much as Leigh Steinberg in order to increase Mr. Young’s talent. It probably doesn’t help that Major Adams has only negotiated one NFL contract in his life.

It probably helps that Matt Leinart is by far and away the most recognizable of the Big 3 (VYoung and RBush the others). Leinart has had one year as reigning Heisman winner, plus he is one of the premier celebs in the LA area (e.g. Nick Lachey moved in with Leinart after Nick’s split with Jessica Simpson). Also, Leinart has been rumored to be dating multiple celebraties in the past (I remember hearing Alyssa Milano for one). So I think those are all of the reasons that make Leinart the most marketable although Steinberg definitely helped.
[…] The money did not reverse Steinberg’s luck. He went on to be Matt Leinart’s agent [Early $ for Leinart]. Leinart moved on to CAA. Then Winston Justice of USC also terminated his representation agreement […]
