On January 28th, I let you in on a casting call for a new show coming soon that will be hosted by Michael Irvin on SpikeTV. It will be a reality show with six wide-receivers and six defensivebacks battling out for a spot on the Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Roster. Casting has wrapped up, and a combine will begin shortly to select the twelve who will be on the show. A lot of buzz has picked up surrounding this future show and it seems like a former NBA player wants to copy the idea in a basketball setting.
Duane Causwell, former player with the Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings, is working on a basketball reality show titled, “America’s Top Baller.” Thirty amateur basketball players will be selected to compete for a prize that includes: $50k, a sneaker line (with what company?), and a contract with a sports agent. Hmmm. I’d rather win a spot on a roster, but I guess the $50k is nice compensation. Unlike Irvin’s show, “America’s Top Baller” has not yet been picked up by a network and there is no information available concerning casting that I was able to find.

A contract with a sports agent? Sounds a little bit self serving. Kinda like a car dealership holding a raffle where the grand prize is an opportunity to buy a car from them…
Americas Top Baller looks alot like a basketball reality show called Diamond in the Ruff, created by a writer in Portland, Oregon at the end of 2007, which was in development at the begin of 2008. Athough there are lots of ideas similar to this and several shows have been produced in the past, Americas Top Baller looks and sounds like it has been taken right out of Diamond in the Ruff’s treatment….
Hi guys, I am a British Professional racing driver who is looking to race in the America for the 2010 season in either the ALMS series or IMSA porsche. I will need some kind of management and representation. Does anyone have any advice.
