Darren Gill Strikes Again

I am back home for the Summer (besides a vacation and business trip here and there…including going to Israel from May 13-24), and am ready to get back to keeping you up to date with the latest happenings in the Sports Agent world. There is no better way to start than to give major props to a sports agent who took time out of his busy schedule to be a guest contributor at I Want to be a Sports Agent for an entire week.

If you do not remember who I am talking about or you are new to the blog, CFL agent Darren Gill was a guest contributor from January 29-February 2 of this year. For my concluding remarks and a list of his posts, click here.

Anyway, it looks like our boy Mr. Gill has been working his tail off since being a welcomed guest to the site. Read below for a press release that I recently acquired featuring our friend:

Gill Sports Management Dominates CFL Draft

Montreal – The Canadian Football League held their annual Canadian College Draft on May 2nd and it was Montreal based agency Gill Sports Management that turned out to be the big winner, representing a total of 12Â players (over 25% of 2007 drafted players), and the #1 (Chris Bauman) and #2 (Warren Kean) overall selections.

This marks the first time since 2002 that two players from the CIS were selected #1 and #2 overall and it is believed that this is the first time that the Top 2 selections were represented by the same agent. In addition to having 12 players selected in the draft, three other members of the Gill Sports Management team signed free-agent deals; Running-back Andre Durie out of York was picked up by the Toronto Argonauts, McMaster Offensive Lineman Kyle Koch is headed to Winnipeg, while Linebacker Steve Wilson out of Regina landed in Calgary.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made CFL history during Tuesday’s draft with their selection of Chris Bauman. This was the first time a receiver had been selected with the 1st pick since the Edmonton Eskimos selected University of Calgary product Don Blair in 1996. The last kicker to be selected 2nd overall was former Concordia Stinger, and Kean mentor, Dave Miller-Johnston, selected by the Toronto Argonauts in 1998.

Gill Sports Management, founded and headed by Montreal-native Darren Gill, currently represents over 35 active CFLers and has been representing players since 2002.

The Gill Sports Management Scorecard

1 (1) Hamilton – Chris Bauman WR Regina
1 (2) Edmonton – Warren Kean K Concordia
