Conley Sr. Joins BDA Sports

Today I got an e-mail from a loyal reader of I Want to be a Sports Agent with this particular inquiry:

“I was wondering if you by chance knew how I could get Mike Conley’s e mail or phone number. My athletic trainer recently told me he was starting MAC sports in Chicago.”

Everyone in the sports world was under the same impression. Mac Management Group was supposed to be the new agency formed by Conley Sr. that would represent Greg Oden as its first marquee client [New Kid’s Father On The Block]. It seems like Oden will still hire Conley Sr. as his agent, however, Mac Management Group will not be the premier agency involved in the representation agreement. Mac Management Group (MMG) has partnered with Bill Duffy’s BDA Sports, which will handle the majority of MMG client services.  With BDA Sports gaining an influential figure like Conley Sr., Duffy may see his agency earn much more money from new business in the near future. BDA Sports is currently listed as the 6th largest when it comes to client salary.

Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Hello I’ve been trying to get an e-mail for sports agent Mike Conley Sr. who is representing Ohio State’s player Greg Oden…. I am a retired overseas, & USBL professional basketball player who is retired now. I know that Oden is probably experiencing Arthritis in his wrist.. I was force to retire because of these pains. I’ve been drinking a health drink that has been passed by the sport agencies health inspectors that has changed my life. I am 38 years old know and since December of last year is able to run and jump again because of this drink. Because of the Glucosamine and the fatty acids thats in the drink I no longer have any joint and knee athuritis…. I particularly like the point that Oden may not be making such a mistake by going with Conley Sr…

“While players tend to make their decision based upon such factors as the agent’s experience and who the agent represents, these definitely should not be the only factors. Oden chose somebody he has known for years and obviously trusts a great deal, both important factors.”
