New Looks

If you are new to the site, welcome! If you are a returning visitor, you may see some new things around SportsAgentBlog.com

  • At the top left and right sides of the header, you will find boxes. These boxes will feature our newest and most popular sections of the site. For now, check out Interview With The Agent on the top left and our newest feature, Interview With The Athlete, on the top right.
  • The main page will only show the newest story that is posted. The change was made to clear up space and allow for new content to be more easily placed. To view the 10 most recent posts, head down to the footer, where they will be posted on the left side of the page. For more in-depth archives, make sure to click on the Archives tab located on the top menu.
  • Recent comments have been added on the right side of the footer. Make yourself known! Become a loyal commenter…openness and discussion are what drives this site. I also just added a Top Commentator section. If you are leaving comments, make sure to post with your name and website. This is an extra incentive to leave comments on the site.
  • The archives section has been modified.  The excerpt for each post has been deleted and I have increased the number of posts per archive page to 20 stories (it used to be 10).  This should make it easier for those searching through the archives to sift through the vast information on the blog.  By reading the headline, you should know whether or not you are interested in reading the story.
  • And remember that the easiest way to keep track of all posts and be notified as soon as a new post is made is to sign up for the RSS feed.

Any ideas for improvement? Thoughts about new features that should be added? Think something should be scrapped? Leave any comments that you may have below.

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
