I know everyone out there was probably very worried about the lack of a Nightmare Clients column last night. I had a minor incident that kept me from putting it up last night, but never fear….nothing will stop SportsAgentBlog.com from exposing the Nightmares!
1. Troubled pitcher Scott Olsen of the Florida Marlins was arrested early Saturday after refusing to pull over and getting into a fight with police officers [Marlins pitcher Olsen charged with DUI, released from jail]. Olsen was booked into the Miami-Dade county jail on charges of driving under the influence, resisting an officer with violence and fleeing and eluding a police officer. He was released Saturday afternoon on $11,000 bond. It was the latest in a string of problems for the 23-year-old left-hander, who returned to the Marlins on Friday night following a two-game suspension without pay after a confrontation with teammate and fellow pitcher Sergio Mitre.
2. Oakland safety Jarrod Cooper was suspended on Friday for the Raiders’ first four regular season games for violating the NFL’s policy on steroids [Raider’s Cooper suspended four games for steroid violation]. Cooper, a valuable special teams player for the Raiders, will be allowed to participate in training camp and preseason games. But he won’t be able to be on the team’s active roster until Oct. 1, the day after the teams’ fourth game of the season against Miami. Cooper is the second Raiders player to be suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Running back Dominic Rhodes was also suspended for four games.
3. Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter has been fined $141,176, the equivalent of three game checks, by the NFL for his role in a March altercation in which he punched Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Levi Jones at a Las Vegas blackjack table. Porter, 30, pleaded guilty on May 30 to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from the incident. The $141,176 fine, first reported by NFL.com and confirmed by league sources, is one of the biggest in NFL history. It represents three-seventeenths of Porter’s scheduled base salary of $800,000 for the 2007 season. But it does mean that Porter, who signed a five-year, $32 million contract with the Dolphins after he was released by Pittsburgh this spring, will avoid a suspension [Porter’s punch costs him equivalent of 3 game checks].
4. Former NBA All-Star Vin Baker, whose 14-year career was marred by bouts of depression and alcoholism, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to drunken driving. Baker appeared briefly in Norwich Superior Court, then left through a back entrance to avoid photographers. It was one more public stumble for one of Connecticut’s favorite sons, who was an All-State player at Old Saybrook High before breaking nearly every scoring record at the University of Hartford. Baker, who lives in Durham, was spotted driving erratically after leaving Foxwoods Resort Casino on June 19, according to a state police report. He failed a sobriety test and was charged with driving while impaired, police said [Baker pleads not guilty to drunken driving in Connecticut].

im assuming its needless to even mention mike vick as a nightmare client… he’s taken it to a whole new level,, real freddy kruger-ish
I figure that being mentioned on nightmare clients for several consecutive weeks would be rather excessive.
I’m in agreement with Darren. I’ve been staying away from the Vick issue unless there has been something new, noteworthy, and confirmed to write about. Otherwise, I could probably put him on the list every single week until his legal matters are resolved.
I originally wrote about Vick’s saga in the May 27-June 3rd Nightmare Clients column (http://www.dhpromo.com/blog/?p=500).
I have decided to add him to this week’s (July 22-July 29th) Nightmare Clients column because he is losing endorsement money at a Kobe(circa 2003, Denver, CO)-like rate (http://www.dhpromo.com/blog/?p=600).
