Welcome to the second installment of Role Model Clients. This column’s purpose is to highlight all the great things that athletes do outside of their profession. Every week, we highlight all of the terrible transgressions that occur, but it is nice to hear about some of the good things that players do in order to better the world. With that being said, here is your latest edition of Role Model Clients:
1) Jarvis Green knows what it takes to be a champion. As a 5-year veteran in the NFL with the New England Patriots, he has seen his fair share of success. He has also had to deal with a few terrible experiences as well. He still deals with the devastation that occurred in Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina and recently had one of his close friend’s and teammate, Marquise Hill, unfortunately pass away. Jarvis has set up the Jarvis Green Foundation and will be hosting the foundation’s First Annual Wine Tasting Gala at Johnson & Wales Inn in Seekonk, MA. Proceeds will benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina and the family of Marquise Hill.
2) We joke around about Matt Leinart at SportsAgentBlog.com quite a bit, but we only do so because he makes it so damn easy sometimes. Anyway, this time we want to commend Leinart on being charitable. Last month, Leinart hosted his first annual celebrity bowling night, which benefited his foundation. The event raised more than $100,000 for disadvantaged youths [Stars come out for Leinart charity event].
3) And what about that guy who used to completely dominate the Tour de France? Lance Armstrong created the LIVESTRONG bracelet back in 2004…you know those yellow bracelets that became cult-like accessories. Since that time, those bracelets that you may have discounted as “silly” have raised $63 million for cancer research [LIVESTRONG Bracelets Raise $63M for Cancer Research Since 2004]. Armstrong wants to raise $1 billion. G-d bless him.

One reply on “Role Model Clients: Jarvis Green, Matt Leinart, Lance Armstrong”
It’s nice to see Jarvis Green getting some much deserved recognition. He is a true professional and a gentleman. His contribution on the field is well documented. Off the field, I’ve found him to be thoughtful, respectful and a man who keeps his word. Traits not always found among today’s spoiled pro athletes. Keep up the good work Jarvis. And based on what I know about the guy, his good deeds aren’t work, they are a labor of love.
