Cut From The NFL? Come Join The UFL

uflThis past Saturday, the UFL held an open tryout in Orlando, Florida.  The tryout was mostly for the Orlando team to scout potential additions to its roster.  The tryout started a few hours late because of the overwhelming attendance; over 1,200 players arrived on August 22nd to be seen.

Since the tryout, 12 players have been added to the Orlando Tuskers preseason roster, but the Tuskers are not done adding players, and neither are the remaining three UFL teams.  In fact, earlier today, this note was sent out to all NFLPA certified advisors:

Dear Contract Advisor:

As NFL teams will be making cuts in the next few weeks, some players may have an opportunity for employment in the UFL. In that regard, please use the following contact information. Thank you.

United Football League
Attention: Rick Mueller
501 Riverside Ave., Suite 904
Jacksonville, FL 32202

Phone: (904) 598-1031

Fax: (904) 598-1032

E-mail: Rick.Mueller@ufl-football.com

What this means is that even though over 1,200 players showed up for the open tryout, teams are still looking for players who have been getting looks from NFL teams first and foremost.  If your client gets cut, it is not the end of the world.  The UFL has its arms wide open.

I really want to play football in the next level. I have great hands according to friends and my first high school coach but i was on a team that was run 50 plays and pass 10 times. I’m now 19 and just don’t have the money to go to a big college. I understand it’s very difficult to make a team anywhere but I am a no quit guy and when people tell me I can’t do something, I show them wrong. Is there anything I could do to get recognized. Please email me and I would also like to know more about the UFL league. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.
