Dynasty Hopes To Gain Some Luck Of The Irish

sharpley

It has always been Bryan Swalley’s dream to represent a former Notre Dame athlete.  Recently, his dream has come true.  Dynasty Athlete Representation is proud to announce that it has signed Evan Sharpley as its newest client.  Sharpley, pictured above, will have Swalley as his primary agent.  Swalley is a baseball agent, so what’s up with the picture of Sharpley in a Notre Dame football uniform?  Evan was signed by the Mariners in the 2009 MLB Draft, played Rookie Ball with the organization and had a clause in his contract that allowed him to return to Notre Dame to play out his last season on the football squad.  He served as the backup QB to Jimmy Clausen this year.

One thing we have learned at Dynasty is to never judge a book by its cover.  A perfect example is Pete Parise, who went undrafted and is now pushing the envelope to become an impact player on a Major League roster.  Sharpley was drafted, but in the final round of the 2009 MLB Draft.  That said, he impressed the Mariners organization in his rookie year.  In 37 games and 132 ABs, the first baseman showed off his power by knocking 7 homeruns and also displayed patience at the plate, batting .333 and walking 21 times.  His OPS (on-base plus slugging) was a 1.043.  50th rounder or not, that’s an OPS that makes me salivate.  And the kid is a natural born athlete.

Evan is 6’2 and 215 lbs.  In 2006, he served as the back-up for All-American Brady Quinn.  In ’07, he split QB duties with Jimmy Clausen, finishing the season with a 55% completion percentage with 736 yards passing and 5 TD’s.  In ’08 and ’09, he again served as Clausen’s back-up.  Although he played baseball at Notre Dame for 3 seasons, it wasn’t until ’09 when he focused on it.  He saw significant playing time and hit .324 with 13 HR’s and 40 RBI’s in 51 games.  He was the first Irish player to ever throw multiple touchdown passes and hit multiple home runs in the same academic year.

We also love Evan’s character.  He is an intelligent gentleman who can really brighten up a clubhouse.  And who is going to complain about representing a 2009 Top Bod On Campus?

I’d much rather have a dream of signing someone from a good team like Florida, Texas, Oklahoma or USC. Wow, ND. Sucks that that’s your dream.

(Just in case you can’t tell this post is sarcastic. Go Blue!)
