Athlete Infidelity Creates New Opportunities

Many people across the world just finished spending Christmas with their families, eating good food, sharing good stories, and remembering that there is nothing more important than cherishing their loved ones.  Maybe those experiences will let people forget about the small number of athletes who give themselves a bad name (I’m looking at you, Tiger), and instead focus on those who deserve to be praised for their dedication and passion for their sport and their family (I’m looking at you, Tom Smallwood).  Who am I kidding?  We love hearing about athletes forgetting about their morals.  After all, the announcement of the creation of TMZ Sports would not carry much weight if it would not have had the affect of making Sports PR entities tremble in their boots (or sandals, if they live in Florida).

But there are communities that want to look out for the athlete who lacks solid morals.  One, is a new venture started by the significant others of three NFL players.  The company is Off The Market, and the women behind the event firm want to make sure more athletes and their wives honor their relationships.

“Off The Market events” produces exclusive, one of-a-kind couples events by invitation only; for couples committed to sustaining a positive, healthy, sexy, rewarding, fun, and exciting relationship with their mate.

No events are currently listed on the website, but as is often the case with ventures started by the wives of professional athletes, I imagine that this project will take off.  Darren Rovell reports that the organization’s first invite-only, exclusive event is going to be held tonight in New York City.

Another option is for athletes to become “whipped” to their significant others.  They can take the lead of Doug Christie.  Being whipped is cool.  It is definitely cooler than ending up in a situation like the one Tiger Woods currently finds himself in.

I’m always excited to hear of athlete families promoting family values. As a former ball player I know how difficult the life can be and how taxing it is on your family. I hope more athletes will get behind this group.
