Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
Mike Lowell loves playing for the Boston Red Sox whether they win the World Series or end up losing to the Cleveland Indians in Game 5 of the ALCS. It really says a lot about a modern day player who is not afraid to voice his candid opinion to the media. Most athletes who choose […]

99 Problems…Is The NFLPA One?
Jeffrey Standen, also known as The Sports Law Professor, strongly believes that the cause of NFLPA agent problems (he gives examples of Carl Poston and Tank Blank) stems from the players association itself. As always, I encourage you to check out the article in its entirety, but if you are too lazy or crunched for […]
Sports Agents Should Go Green
The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a slow start in the 2007, but have been on a fast pace to become the most environmentally friendly professional sports team. The fact that the Eagles care about the environment may not directly translate to dollars in the bank, but the team’s owners may realize that life is […]
Less than a week ago, The Times (a South African paper) published a question/answer article between its readers and Craig Livingstone, an influential sports agent in the region [Leading SA sports agent Craig Livingstone answers your questions]. I encourage you to take a look at the fairly short article in its entirety. It will allow […]
The Cleveland Indians recently struck a deal with IMG to find a sponsor to claim the naming rights for Jacobs Field. CAA has been employed by the New York Yankees to procure sponsors for their future new stadium [CAA: Creative Acquisition Agency]. If the Minnesota Vikings ever decided to drop their stadium’s name, which falls […]
Dad’s Corner: The Odds Breaker
While beginning to write this post, I am at half time in the weirdest college game I have seen in a long time: Fla St and Wake Forrest. If the second half end up being as weird as the first half, OH MY. All you Fl. fans nothing to be ashamed of, though, it has […]

I have added a left hand column that includes an easy to use search box, where you can search this site for any key words and also search right into Google by clicking the “Web” box. In addition, the recent posts and recent […]
