It has been a couple of weeks without Nightmare Clients. But Tim Hardaway insisted that the weekly column return. 1. Former point guard, Tim Hardaway, literally came out on Miami sports radio and said “I hate gay people” in response to John Amaechi’s new book where Amaechi comes out of the closet [Retired NBA star […]
Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
Howard Is At The Topps
Casey Close of CAA has recently made Ryan Howard the person you will see on the cover of new Topps baseball card boxes [To trading card company, Howard is Topps]. No doubt about it, Ryan Howard is a great baseball player with the potential to break many records. However, maybe there is more appeal to […]

It is produced 4 times a year and is completely free to download. The publication covers media rights content, sponsorship, and events on a global scale (mostly looking at areas overseas). 04s Doing It Big in ’07
Reader Jordan McNulty recently asked for some insight about the O4s (Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Taurean Green, and Cory Brewer). The four juniors have led the University of Florida along with Lee Humphrey (give the man some love!) to their first NCAA Basketball Championship, and look to be on their way to a second consecutive […]
Virginia Law – No Longer A Virgin
At Virginia Law School, there is a lot of interest in strengthening the Sports and Entertainment section of the school. One of the most frequent questions that I receive as someone who has studied the Sports Agent profession for a while now is whether or not an aspiring agent should go to Law School. The […]

Yo Momma!
Ask any Sports Agent, and they will probably confirm the fact that in a majority of cases, it is vital to win over an athlete’s parents in order to sign a representation agreement contract. It is understandable how this simple fact can be overlooked by many agents while they reach out solely to the athlete […]
Are Women Easier To Market?
Sports Agent Yuki Saegusa seems to think so. The over-saturation of male athletes in most sports may create a climate that women figure skaters can take advantage of when it comes to finding endorsements. Take for instance, Kimmie Meissner, who has multi-year endorsement deals with Subway, Visa, and Under Armour after winning the national figure […]
Cortes The MySpace Killer
When you are a 19-year-old with some good stuff and trying to make it into the Major Leagues, maybe its best to keep the pictures of yourself drinking underage and passed out on a toilet naked off of MySpace and other social networking sites. of the Burlington Bees seems to disagree with such sentiments. Apparently […]
