Nightmare Clients for the Week of June 17th-June 24th

Recurring Nightmare Clients Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson show up once again…perhaps we should just change the name of this column to “The Weekly Tomfoolery of Pacman, Tank, and Friends?”

1. Second-year defensive tackle Fred Evans, who played sparingly as a rookie but is expected to assume a more meaningful role for the Miami Dolphins in 2007, was arrested early Saturday morning, and tasers were used to subdue him, after an alleged argument with a Miami Beach taxi driver. A spokesperson for the Miami Beach police department on Saturday afternoon confirmed the arrest and said that Evans was charged with battery on a police officer, resisting arrest with violence, trespassing and disorderly conduct [Evans charged… ]. What is it with professional sports players being tasered lately?

2. Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was pulled over for speeding in Arizona early Friday and police said they drew blood from the NFL player to determine whether he was drunk [Blood drawn to determine whether Johnson was drunk]. Johnson already is suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season after violating probation on a gun violation. Police in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert said Johnson was stopped for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone at 3:30 a.m. Friday and the officer made observations that led him to believe Johnson was impaired.

3. Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones surrendered to face charges in a Las Vegas strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting [Pacman surrenders for arrest on felony charges]. Jones was released on $20,000 bail, and was scheduled to return for an initial court appearance July 23. Jones will plead not guilty to two felony charges of coercion stemming from allegations that he threatened to kill Minxx club employees and that he bit a bar bouncer, his lawyers said. If convicted, the 23-year-old Jones faces a maximum of 12 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Jones’ teammates are quickly becoming tired of his ongoing legal problems. The Titans quarterback Vince Young was asked during a minicamp session Thursday if he was concerned about Jones. “We love him a whole lot, but we feel like he don’t care about us right now,” Young said [Young: ‘We love him… ]. This all comes on the heels of being sought by police for questioning about a shooting early Monday involving members of his entourage after a fight at an Atlanta strip club [Cops want to talk to Pacman about alleged shooting by entourage]. How much longer until Commissioner Goodell extends Pacman’s suspension, or worse, bans him from the league for life?
