What A Summer!!!

When people think of summer, people think of the beach, vacations and baseball. That is before this summer. This one has been one for the ages, and to be honest, it has been a disgrace to all sports fans.

For the longest time Barry Bonds and his homerun chase ruled the summer, and just when it looked like we were in the clear as that record breaking homerun fell into Matt Murphy’s hands, all hell broke loose.

It seemed that as soon as Bonds broke the record, he passed the torch to former NBA referee Tim Donaghy. For 2-3 weeks all that was talked about was: How could something like this happen? What will the NBA do now? Are there more refs involved and what kind of Mob influence was involved? Finally Tim Donaghy came out and admitted his wrong doing and slowly the story began to die out.

But as that story died an even bigger story was born. That of Michael Vick, and the dog fighting fiasco. For weeks he pleaded his innocence and hoped that in the end his good name would be cleared. As Lee Corso says, “Not so fast my friend”. Finally, last week Vick admitted his guilt.

But let’s not stop there…what about Sprewell, Briggs, and Pacman?

With that said, I would like to thank the Little League World Series for being the only clean, good story of the summer.

Thank god College Football and the NFL are back!
