Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy ThanksgivingHopefully, if you are reading this on Thanksgiving day, it is only because you have picked your favorite seat on the couch, there is a break in one of the football games, and your house has some great wireless internet. If you are on here for some other reason, we are happy to have you on the blog. Either way, everyone at I Want to be a Sports Agent would like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. I would like to shoot out some bullet points and then leave you on your merry way for the rest of the day.

Some updates on SportsAgentBlog.com:

  • Look to your right. We have a brand new console up and running. Currently, there are three options, with Sponsors being the default. Click on Archives to see a list of months to choose from, and click Subscribe to subscribe via RSS or through e-mail. That’s right. We bumped up our game. Now, get a daily e-mail with all of our posts. Make sure to sign up by entering your e-mail address and clicking subscribe. Please leave your comments about the new console, and if anything should be added.
  • Facebookers: become a fan of SportsAgentBlog.com by going here: http://ufl.facebook.com/profile.php?id=7438489803. I’m not quite sure what it’s all about, but just do it!
  • Be on the lookout for SportsAgentBlog.com’s first contest giveaway. We have something to give away, but are still brainstorming what you should have to do to win the contest. Novel ideas? Shoot me them.
  • Last, I Want to be a Sports Agent is approaching its 2 year anniversary. I cannot believe it. I want to celebrate, but am unsure of how you “throw an internet party.” Anyway, the site keeps growing and it has you to thank. I love you.

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
