Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and I hope everyone enjoys their New Year’s Eve as we say goodbye to 2008 and welcome in 2009.  2008 was a huge year for me.  Early on, I had to decide what kind of direction Dynasty was going to take.  Originally a joint-venture, I bought out my partner in February.  Since that time, we have experienced tremendous growth in a very short period.  2009 really looks bright for the company.  I also got a scare right before Spring Finals when I suffered a concussion.  After losing my sense of smell and taste for a month and a half, I am now back to normal.  This site has also seen tons of success in 2008.  The data speaks for itself.  We now regularly receive over 4,500 page views per day.  And the contributors have a lot to do with that.  On to 2009, my friends.  I hope you are all boarding the ship with me.  Here are a few stories that we missed during this slow week:

Football

Basketball

  • Derrick Rose wants some endorsement love [Bulls’ Rose pitches to be in commercials].

Be sure to check out the Emerald Bowl tomorrow now.  They’re not saying boo, they’re saying Ruuuuuuulon!

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
