Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (7/22/11)

So what do you think of our new layout?  Not only are we flashing a new design, but we switched servers, which should mean no more downtime (until we start hitting ESPN type page views).  I have officially had my Twitter name switched from @Darren_Heitner to @DarrenHeitner.  Can’t say that I am shocked that there is a lawsuit filed against the NFL and Riddell based on allegedly concealing brain injury risks.  I have done a lot of research on that particular subject and wrote an article about it on our sister site, ChangeLegal.com.  I know a lot of our readers are taking a state (or multiple states) Bar Exam within the next week.  To all of you, good luck!  Hopefully you will soon have ,Esq. at the end of your names.  Here are some stories I missed over the past week:

Baseball

Basketball
Sports Business

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Email Intervention: It’s time to make the switch Email not looking
beautiful?
View it in your browser

Dear Disqus,

I’ve been your friend for a long time, so please know that when I say this,
I am saying it from the heart.

I’m worried about you. Year after year goes by and you’re still using that
outdated email program. I can’t sit idly by and watch how this is affecting
you and those around you, so I’m staging an email intervention and I’m
committed to helping you make the switch to Gmail.

Think about it: is there any good reason not to enjoy superior spam
protection, instant search, nested conversations and cool stuff like video
chat or the ability to call phones directly from your inbox?

So I say to you, bluntly but lovingly: I realize change can be scary, but
it’s time to switch to Gmail. Do it for me, do it for everyone else in your
life, but most importantly, do it for yourself.

I believe in you.

Your Friend,
D’Lish

WHY SWITCH? BUT HOW?

Gmail makes email easy and efficient. And maybe even fun. With Gmail,
you’ll get lots of storage space, less spam, fast search and lots more.
After you sign up, you’ll see the option to transfer over messages and
contacts from your old account. That way, you can pick up right where you
left off.
