A source has informed SAB’s very own Darren Heitner that Amari Cooper (6’1 210 lbs) will sign with Joel Segal, President of Football for Lagardere Unlimited. Cooper is the consensus number one ranked wide receiver in the 2015 NFL Draft. In the past decade, Segal has twice been recognized as one of the business’ “Most Powerful Sports Agents” (2007-Sports Business Journal; 2010-Business Insider Law Review). Segal has represented multiple first round draft picks every year since 2006. Segal’s Lagardere Unlimited and CAA are the only two agencies to have represented three first round picks in each of the last two years.

Cooper reset the Alabama record books in 2014. He set new school records for receptions (124), receiving yards (1,727) and receiving touchdowns (16) on his way to being named the Biletnikoff Award winner and a Heisman finalist. Cooper’s 124 receptions also set a new SEC record. When projecting where Cooper may land on Draft Day a possible option would be the Oakland Raiders at pick 4. The Raiders believe Derek Carr may be their answer at quarterback and will likely be looking to put weapons and protection around him this off-season. Another possible destination is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although it is more likely that they will look to draft an offensive tackle with the third overall pick, it is possible that they could be looking to give QB Blake Bortles an outside playmaker such as Cooper.
