With the NBA playoffs approaching, Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard has decided to make a change in his representation. Leonard has signed with Aaron Mintz of CAA Sports. He was previously represented by Excel Sports Management.
Leonard was drafted 11th overall by Portland in 2012 and has started 4 games this season. He is averaging 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game on an average of just over 14 minutes per game. Portland has a team option for Leonard next season for just over $3 million. If it is not picked up, then Mintz will get to work on securing a new deal for his new client.
The signing of Meyers Leonard is a positive sign for CAA. The company been through turmoil recently with the loss of football agent Ben Dogra and the defection of multiple talent agents. Despite the recent headlines, CAA Sports remains one of the elite sports agencies in the world. Aaron Mintz is a top agent in the NBA with a client roster that includes Paul George, Ty Lawson, and Terrence Ross.
