Per a press release from the company, IF Management and The Montag Group are merging “to form the preeminent representation business in sports, news and entertainment.
The Montag Group, established by former WME-IMG sports media agent Sandy Montag, is focused on representing the “biggest names in broadcasting” in addition to coaches and athletes. After signing his first two clients, Montag saw the need to expand in order to be able to best represent his clients. Steve Herz, the owner of IF Management, has represented media in news and sports for the past 20 years.
“Steve is the one person in the industry that I would even consider doing this deal with,” Montag said. “IF is known for great client relationships and I really feel that our businesses complement each other as well as our management styles. With many agencies in the space becoming over-sized, the industry needs a representation business which has a clear focus on client services.” Montag is no stranger to working at a “super agency” as the 30-year industry veteran was a part of the WME-IMG merger that took place in 2014.
Unlike the WME-IMG merger, both companies will retain their names. The talent business will operate out of both New York City and White Plains, NY.
