Wasserman Signs Elite Class Of 2019 NFL Draft Prospects

Agents Doug Hendrickson and C.J. LaBoy, of Wasserman, have signed an elite class of prospects for the 2019 NFL draft. The two agents, who joined Wasserman last year, have added Washington cornerback Byron Murphy, Washington safety Taylor Rapp, and Notre Dame defensive tackle Jerry Tillery. Hendrickson and LaBoy previously worked at Independent Sports and Entertainment.

Hendrickson has a history of representing top defensive backs in the draft. His clients include former first round picks Marcus Peters, Leon Hall, Desmond Trufant, and Jason Verrett. Peters and Trufant also played for Washington in college.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Murphy rated as the No. 24 prospect in the draft while ESPN’s Todd McShay has Tillery rated as No. 18 overall. Rapp is also a potential first round pick.

“The NFL being a passing league — it’s critical that teams have multiple defensive backs that can shut down the field,” Hendrickson told Sports Business Journal’s Liz Mullen. “Byron Murphy is a tough, lockdown, shutdown corner who reminds us of both [Eagles cornerback] Sidney Jones and Marcus Peters. Taylor Rapp is the best safety in this draft.”

Wasserman’s football division is headed by agent Will Wilson, who represents Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. Wilson and Richard Irvin have signed Notre Dame tight end Alize Mack and Georgia State wide receiver Penny Hart. Wilson and Hendrickson are co-representing Stanford punter Jake Bailey.

Wasserman will also be representing Rutgers cornerback Blessuan Austin, Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne, TCU defensive end Ben Banogu, Eastern Michigan defensive end Maxx Crosby, UNC Charlotte offensive lineman Nate Davis, Baylor wide receiver Jalen Hurd, UMass wide receiver Andy Isabella, Boise State wide receiver Alexander Mattison, Oklahoma offensive lineman Dru Samia, Notre Dame linebacker Drue Tranquill, and Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams.

“To have this kind of class with the quality of kids on and off the field is fantastic,” Hendrickson said. “We are thrilled about our first class together.”
