Ahead Of Free Agency, Kyrie Irving, Agent Part Ways

Kyrie Irving has parted ways with his longtime agent Jeff Wechsler and has reportedly signed with Roc Nation Sports.

Irving opted out of his $21.3M deal to play for the Celtics next season and will become a free agent for the first time in his career this summer.

Wechsler has represented Irving since he was the first overall pick out of Duke in the 2011 NBA Draft. Negotiating his marketing campaigns throughout the past nine seasons, including the launch of his Uncle Drew character, Wechsler ultimately helped his client navigate his way to Boston in 2017.

The six-time All Star will lean on Jay-Z’s Roc Nation as he heads into NBA free agency for the first time in his career.. League sources say Irving is intensely interested in the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks. The Knicks and Nets look to sign both Irving and Kevin Durant to max deals. After rupturing his Achilles in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Durant will most likely miss the entire 2019-20 NBA season. Even such, each team has the cap space to sign two superstars.

Irving joins a client roster at Roc Nation that includes Kevin Durant, Trey Burke, Danny Green, Justice Winslow, Josh Hart and Caris LeVert.
