Obi Toppin Signs With Creative Artists Agency

Dayton’s Obi Toppin has officially declared for the NBA Draft and also announced he has signed with Creative Artists Agency. Toppin, a redshirt sophomore, took over the college basketball landscape this year. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 20 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on his way to being named AP’s National Player of the Year.

Entering the season, Dayton had little to no national attention. That quickly changed when Toppin, who was name A-10 Rookie of the Year last year, led Dayton to the championship game versus Kansas in the Maui Invitational in November. Toppin’s highlight reel dunks took social media by storm and made the Flyers a must-watch team this year.

Toppin helped the Dayton Flyers to a 29-2 record and undefeated regular season A-10 conference title. Dayton was expected to be a number 1-seed prior to the NCAA tournament being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Flyers finished the season ranked No. 3 in the final AP poll.

Toppin was named an AP All-American and was the lone unanimous choice. He was Dayton’s first first-team All American in program history.

Toppin is expected to be a top-10 pick. The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 25, 2020 in New York.
