Lonzo Ball Signs With Klutch Sports For Representation

As reported by Malika Andrews of ESPN, Lonzo Ball has decided to sign with Klutch Sports for representation.

In his young career, Ball has had stints with Roc Nation Sports and Creative Arts Agency (CAA). However, the choice to join Klutch was different as this time it was “solely” his decision, one he feels like allows him to lead his career the way he sees fit. After leaving the bubble where he struggled to find a rhythm, Ball has started his offseason regimen with sights on the Most Improved Player Award his teammate Brandon Ingram took this season.

The Pelicans still hold a team option for the 2020-21 season which would be around $11M in cap hit. Ball did show improvement in his shot and his playmaking ability provided exciting highlights when coupled with the high-flying Zion Williamson.

Rich Paul and Klutch Sports have proven to be masterminds in optimizing player opportunities. One example being how he orchestrated the very trade that sent Ball and others to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis. With a host of young contracts on the books, the Pelicans are in position to provide Ball a substantial contract even if they decide to extend Brandon Ingram.

Ball finished the season averaging 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists per game. There are many teams that will pay up for Ball services if he plays out the 2021 season on his option and becomes a restricted free agent. One team being circulated is the New York Knicks. However, the Pelicans would still have the option to match any offer he receives. Regardless, Ball would indeed have a chance to take charge of his own career.
