Luba Sports Signs The Wild Horse: Yasiel Puig

Luba Sports has expanded their client roster with Rachel Luba signing free agent outfielder Yasiel Puig. The Cuban-born right fielder is an interesting addition to Luba Sports, who already represents Trevor Bauer, a self-proclaimed “misfit.” Puig’s lack of discipline on and off the field has garnered him the nickname the Wild Horse. He was previously represented by Wasserman, but was subsequently dropped from their agency citing behavioral problems from Puig. Luba Sports seems to be amassing a Band of Misfits so to speak. These players are rumored to be difficult, but maybe they have now found their home in Rachel Luba as an agent and Luba Sports as their agency. Luba collaborates exceptionally well with Bauer. She believes her players should be able to be vocal and share their opinions, something outspoken players like Bauer seem to appreciate. Time will tell whether she is also the right fit for Puig. Maybe Luba Sports isn’t a band of misfits at all, but simply misunderstood ball players.

Luba is already garnering interest in her new signing, floating the idea of a throwing competition between Bauer and Puig. The two are former teammates and have playfully jabbed at each other on Twitter about the possibility of this throw off. Rachel Luba is quickly becoming a rising star as an MLB agent, in large part because she has found her niche in her ability to effectively utilize every social media platform to market her business and players. She gives instant access to her interactions with her players via her vlog on YouTube, but is also active on Twitter and Instagram.

After signing with the Atlanta Braves before the shortened 2020 MLB season, Puig tested positive for COVID-19 and did not play. He is currently a free agent, with a number of teams rumored to be interested.
