Klutch Sports has signed Overtime Elite’s first international player, Jean Montero who is from Dominican Republic. Klutch announced on social media that Montero had signed with their agency.
The 6’3″, newly 18 year old guard is from Dominican Republic and previously played this past season in Spain with Gran Canaria. He is projected as the number 17 pick in the ESPN 2022 Mock NBA Draft. He will be joining the league that is becoming an alternative for high school and international prospects to use as a training platform. Montero will be joining Amen and Ausar Thompson and Matthew and Ryan Bewley as being part of Overtime Elite. Players are expected to begin training in Atlanta in September.
Within the last few years, Montero has been a member of the Dominican Republic National Team (2017-2021), participated in the FIBA Americas U16 Championships in Argentina, participated in Centrobasket U17 in Puerto Rico, participated in FIBA Americas U16 Championships in Brazil, and FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers. He has received the following accolades / achievements: All-FIBA Americas U16 Best Guard, All-FIBA Americas U16 1st Team, All-Centrobasket U17 Best Guard, All-Centrobasket U17 1st Team, Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Valencia All-Tournament Team, Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Valencia MVP and Winner, Spanish LEB Silver Player of the Week, All-Spanish LEB Silver Defensive Player of the Year, All-Spanish LEB Silver 1st Team, and All-Spanish LEB Silver All-Imports Team.
Montero will be joining Klutch Sports client roster as they represent Brandon Boston, Jalen Johnson, Kai Jones, Scottie Lewis, Moses Moody and Jericho Sims as part of their NBA Draft rookie class. They also represent Anthony Edwards, Miles Bridges and Darius Garland who have been selected for the USA Men’s Select Team.
