As of January 5, 2022, Wasserman COO Jason Ranne announced the acquisition of The Montag Group, a New York-based talent agency founded by Sandy Montag. The agency prides itself on representing a variety of talent in media and broadcasting, including the likes of NBC’s Bob Costas, TNT’s Kenny Smith, and ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt.
The group, headed by Montag and Executive Vice President Maury Gostfrand, has over thirty years of experience with roughly fifteen team members providing first-class care to their clients.
The details of the acquisition included Montag retaining its name and staff in New York as part of a strategic partnership with Wasserman. “The Montag Group will provide industry-best media representation current and retired athletes, coaches, front office executives, broadcasters, and influencers we represent” Ranne said.
Currently, the value of the acquisition has not been publicly disclosed.
Wasserman is an industry leader in the representation for sports, entertainment, and media. Founded by Casey Wasserman, the agency is currently headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and represents athletes such as Russell Westbrook and Cameron Jordan.
