Steinberg Sports Merges With Athlete Management Group

Steinberg Sports & Entertainment extends into basketball representation via a merger with Athlete Management Group. AMG co-founders Mike Silverman and Brandon Grier will adopt new executive roles under SSE. Silverman will act as Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations, and Grier will operate as Vice President of Team Sports.

“The expansion into basketball allows SSE to make a deeper impact in the world of sports by providing opportunities for elite athletes and their families on a larger scale,” said SSE CEO Chris Cabott. “I have the utmost appreciation for Mike and Brandon and am proud to have them lead our new basketball division.”

The unification carries a Detroit office to the SSE enterprise, adding to the existing locations in Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Fransisco, Seattle, Kansas City, Columbia (SC), Miami, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Silverman will conduct business based in L.A., and Grier will remain in the formerly-AMG Detroit office. The AMG duo bring with them their clients, including Heat C Dewayne Dedmon and Toledo G Ryan Rollins.

“I am thrilled to join forces with an iconic agency that so closely aligns with our core values and vision,” said Silverman. “We will be able to provide even more services and resources to our clients through this relationship.”

Bandon Grier echoes the excitement surrounding the merger, stating, “I have long respected SSE and look forward to being a part of the continued growth of the company. I’m excited to join such a talented group of leaders and welcome our clients into the SSE Family.”

With the 2022 NBA Draft fast approaching, the merger comes at a timely juncture. Steinberg Sports already dominates the football representation space. Loading up with the human capital to excel in representing basketball’s top talent will only bolster the agency’s already staggering position in the industry.
