No goalie, in the history of the NHL, has won as many hockey games as goalie Martin Brodeur. The 40-year-old goalie has played in the NHL for half of his life (a total of 20 years) and recently signed a deal that will allow him to play at least 2 more seasons in the league with the New Jersey Devils. In those 20 years, Brodeur has never played for an NHL team other than the Devils.
The New Jersey Devils signed Brodeur to a 2-year, $9 million deal. “Deep down what I always wanted was to re-sign with New Jersey,” Brodeur told ESPN.com. “I’m glad the Devils stepped up when they did. As the process went on I was certainly intrigued by what was out there. But this is really what I wanted.”
As the process went on, Brodeur decided to hire a new agent – Pat Brisson of Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Brodeur also told ESPN.com that “it was really helpful to have Pat helping, that’s for sure. It was stressful. I had a headache by the end of it.” Brisson also represents Sidney Crosby, who just signed a contract extension (12-year, $104.4 million) that will make him the highest paid player in the NHL.
