The company credited for getting my feet wet in this industry, Career Sports & Entertainment, has just announced major expansion news. Career Sports has definitely thrived in the city of Atlanta, GA, is in the process of expanding to New York City and has been recently searching for some office space. Jim Donofrio, owner of JLD Marketing Group, former manager of sponsorship sales for Turner Sports, and senior vice president of sales and business development for IMG, will lead the New York office. With JLD, Donofrio had clients in HBO Sports, GMAC, Ford Models, Mayor Cory Booker and the City of Newark, 2011 World Police & Fireman Games and the Friars Club.
The New York office will focus on sales and business development efforts. It seems like one more step for CS&E to expand outside of athlete representation and into “other sports business ventures.” Are Lonnie Cooper and others in the company taking a page out of IMG’s recent expansion strategy?
