Arkansas State (Elwyn McRoy) (2-1) vs. Murray State

Arkansas State (2-1) used a strong second-half performance and got 28 points from its bench to overcome a five-point halftime deficit and defeat Murray State (1-1) 55-47 Wednesday night at the Convocation Center in a non-conference men’s basketball game. The Red Wolves won their second straight game and improved to 2-0 at home, getting a game-high 16 points from junior guard Donald Boone off the bench.  Junior forward Shawn Morgan added 15 points and eight rebounds, while tying Boone with a team-high three steals.

University of Illinois-Chicago (Tracy Dildy) (1-1) vs. Northern Iowa

Senior guard Josh Mayo scored a game-high 27 points and sophomore forward Tori Boyd hit four three-pointers in a career-high 17-point effort to pace the UIC men’s basketball team to an 84-77 victory over UNI in the Flames’ 2008-09 home opener on Wednesday night. In the first regular season game at the revamped UIC Pavilion, the Flames (1-1) picked up where they left off last season by displaying red-hot shooting from their home floor. UIC shot 50 percent (26-for-52) from the field, including a 62.5 percent (10-for-16) clip from downtown, after finishing near 50 percent in both categories as a team at home in 2007-08.

NCCU (Henry Dickerson) (0-3) @ Florida Gulf Coast

Florida Gulf Coast narrowly beat North Carolina Central 66-58 on Thursday night. North Carolina Central (0-3) was led by Vincent Davis who scored a game-high 18 points by playing in all 40 minutes. Stevy Worah-Ozima also tallied in double figures for North Carolina Central, scoring 13 points.

Darren Adam Heitner, Esq., is a preeminent sports attorney and the founder of Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., a Fort Lauderdale-based law firm specializing in sports law, contract negotiations, intellectual property, and arbitration. His thought leadership in NIL has earned him recognition as one of the foremost experts by The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, and On3, and he has been lauded as a “power player in NIL deals” by Action Network and a “top sports trademark attorney” by Sportico.

Darren’s passion for sports law led him to establish Sports Agent Blog on December 31, 2005, initially titled “I Want To Be A Sports Agent.” The platform, created as a New Year’s resolution, has grown into a cornerstone of the sports agency community, offering in-depth analysis of industry trends, legal disputes, and agent-player dynamics. His commitment to the field is further evidenced by his representation of numerous athletes and sports agents, as well as his prior role as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington, where he developed and taught a course on Sport Agency Management from 2011 to 2014.

Darren’s contributions have been recognized with prestigious honors, including the University of Florida’s 40 Under 40 Award, the University of Florida Levin College of Law’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, and designation as the best lawyer in Fort Lauderdale by Fort Lauderdale Magazine. He remains an active voice in the sports law community, sharing insights through his weekly NIL newsletter and his X posts, engaging a broad audience on legal developments in sports.
