OPEN Sports Adds Rodman And Elway To Its Team

Sponsored Post:

Ever hear about OPENSports.com?  For one, I agree with the company’s tag line.  The future of sports on the web, and in general, is open. That is the whole purpose of giving all of you as much insight as possible into the inner workings of Dynasty Athlete Representation and exposing other sports agent related stories from across the entire industry.  Anyway, back to OPEN Sports.  The website is a social sports destination that is chalk full of news, fantasy games, and prizes.  It has a strong backing with Mike Levy, founder of CBS SportsLine.com, and Rob Phythian, founder of Fanball.com, at the top of the executive ladder.

Those men recently struck a couple of deals to form nice relationships with prominent former athletes.  One athlete is known for his propensity to lead his former team to a fourth quarter comeback win.  The other likes to get married in dresses.  If you guessed correct, congratulations.  John Elway and Dennis Rodman will become a part of OPEN Sports in different ways (much like their different personalities).

John Elway will play a large role in the prize part of OPEN Sports.  Not only is he the fantasy football spokesperson for OPENSports.com, but he is also rolling out a brand new feature for the site: the drive.  The program gives users various ways to earn points for a chance to win daily prizes.  A lot of methods to gain points involve some sort of social interaction with other members on the site.  The Grand Prize is tickets to the 2010 Super Bowl and a new set of wheels that you can use to sit in Miami’s traffic while listening to Y-100.  See the press release.

The other OPEN Sports news is courtesy of Dennis Rodman.  The one time king of the boards will bring his spunk to the team in a new partnership with the social sports portal.  While many frequent Yardbarker.com to check out what their favorite athletes are writing or ESPN Magazine to see what Lil Wayne feels about the state of the sports landscape, OPEN Sports sees a nice opportunity in giving The Worm a platform to voice his often flagrant opinions through blog entries, video logs, and a variety of interviews.  Rodman plans to be very accessible to all of OPEN Sports’ users.  See the press release.

Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

OPENSports.com is a terrific website. If anyone has a moment, I recommended listening to Miami’s own Sid Rosenberg. He is highly entertaining and delivers a great show every day.
